Overall, I had an amazing time. Earning a pink coast to coast was beyond my expectations. The medal is beautiful and represents the hard work I have been putting in since training for Dumbo started in march.
This race weekend also represented my final taper before the marathon weekend which was also huge for me.
My pitfalls of the weekend:
- So humid
- Course was too crowded
- Lines long for everything
- Crazy princesses doing crazy things on the course for pictures
However, I do LOVE the Challenge weekends. I enjoyed the Glass Slipper Challenge much more than the Disneyland Half mostly because it wasn't as hot. I definitely will be doing challenges again-they really enhance the running experience and i can't wait to do Dumbo and then the ultimate challenge-Dopey!!
Would I do princess again? Hell yeah! It's seriously a women's powered weekend which is so empowering to see all of these women working towards a common goal. However for some this may not be a good thing- I wouldn't recommend a guy do it as it is very overwhelming.
Will I do it next year? Probably not (unless I win the lottery and then I will of course do it!). I love the race but with me doing wine and dine and dopey, as well as the new avengers race, my wallet needs a break! Maybe I will jump back in 2016 but we will have to wait and see!
What's next? I have a 10k in a week and I plan on going for a PR for and then I'm taking 2 months on competitive running. I need to recharge and give my body rest after the marathon.
My plan during this time is to work on weight training and building my strength again, running tues and thurs for 3 miles, once on weekends for 3-4 miles, and trying to get back into yoga 1 day a week.
I'm also going to really work on running form with Chi Running (I have a whole blog series planned!) and work on improving my form and time.
I will pick back up my running schedule starting June 1st after a 9 day trip to WDW!
