The alarm went off at 3:20 and my first thought was GROAN but I decided to just get dressed as quickly as possible to overcome it. YAY for Anna!
The night before we laid out our clothes and packed our bags so all we had to do was get dressed and be out the door. We packed breakfast to eat on the bus.
We got dressed really quickly and were out of the room at 340, 5 min ahead of schedule. I got hot water to make English breakfast tea and Mallory got powerade. We walked and got right on the bus.
The 10k was much smaller than the half so there was not near as much traffic as we were expecting and got to Epcot by 4. There wasn't any crowds or anything so we got to the area very quickly. We dropped off our bags at bag check and wandered over to the start area. We learned there was other lotta potties in the runner area without a wait so we used those.
We weren't sure what to expect and we ended up with way more time than expected so we just hung out in the corral and stretched and danced to the great DJ. Before we knew it, we were at the front of corral B and walking towards the start.
Corral A went off right at 5:30 and we moved up and were right by the announcers. I've never been that close before!! We thought there would be 5 min-nope 10 min between corrals so we took time to take pics and Instagram.
540 arrived and off we went. It wasn't too crowded which was great! They added an early water stop which was nice because it was so humid.
My favorite part of the race was seeing Elsa above and having it snow and singing let it go! It was perfect! :)
We passed characters we didn't stop for: Pocahontas and meeko, white rabbit. They had a lot of entertainment out which was so much fun-I barely listened to my music.
We finally after mile 3 headed towards the back lot. It was hot and humid so park time was very welcomed.
The had the toy soldiers out who are my absolute favorite but the line was about 30 people deep when we got up there so we didn't stop.
Finally made it to world showcase and boy were we sweaty!! We took a wipe down break in the bathroom and continued on.
More people we saw but didn't stop for because we either see them a lot or their line was very long: jiminy cricket, tiana and naveen and Louis, Marie, baseball goofy. I liked there were more characters out then I thought there would be.
I really enjoyed the Boardwalk and there were people out cheering! It's also one of my favorite areas on property.
We rounded the corner and headed back through Epcot where we had another weird occurrence. We had less than a mile left and a worker said-just a bit over a mile left and a person behind me FREAKED! We calmed her down and said we have less than a mile-more like a half a mile. I know she was just trying to be helpful but for people not used to running, it can be bad.
We were close to the ball so we knew we were almost done. We stopped for a picture with Donald and it turned out cute! We continued on and before we knew it, we were done! It wasn't too slow considering we had the half the next day and it was so much more humid that we are used to.
The finish line area was so Uncrowded because the corrals were so spaced out. We heard all of the corrals start and were almost half way done when the last corral went off. It was nice to get all of our stuff without a problem and walk straight on the bus back to the hotel.
At the finish line, they had characters too!! So much fun!
Back to the hotel to prep for the half, shower, eat and nap and then off we went to AK-in the rain!-and then Studios for some riding and dinner at Mama Melrose.
Overall I liked the 10k. The Disneyland half is still my favorite Disney race ever (all the park time!) but this went well. I was worried about characters as during dopey not many characters were out. I think it will definitely get better and better.
What were your thoughts on the 10k?
