Missed other parts of the Star Wars Weekend recaps? Check them out here: Expo, Half

After dealing with the crazy traffic from yesterday and getting to bed later than we had hoped, we all were pretty energized in the morning.

We got up at 3:30 and wanted to be out of the door by 4:15. We all got ready pretty quickly, ate and stretched and put the finishing touches on our costumes before heading out the door.

The biggest issue we had was with the staging. We had to walk over to bag check and then walk back to the corrals which is much different than we were used to. It was a good 10 min walk from bag check to the corrals. I think the bag check works better in the Lilo lot (where it was) than it does in the Simba but it made the walk a bit of a trek (nothing compared to Wdw though).

We met up with the rest of the crew (yay group of ewoks!) and took pics and did a potty break before heading to our corrals. We were in B and got in our corrals around 5:15 which gave us time to watch some of the movie clips and see Rudy get stolen and rescued. C3P0 and R2D2 came out which is always fun and corral A was off.

There was about 8 min between corrals which was a good amount but I will say the corrals were too large with about 2000 each. I much prefer the smaller corrals of 500-1000 and a bit less time between but we didn't have much crowding issues.

It was Brian's first 10k and we were both pumped to run with him. I was in charge of our intervals and our goal was to take it a bit slower to make sure we could finish strong.

The beginning of the course was all overpasses-within 1.5 miles we had 3 up and downs. we walked the overpasses and ran the downhills and before we knew it, we were backstage at our first water stop.

We were heading to DL first and entered backstage and we're excited for park time. The first character we came upon were some rebels on Main Street and their line was long. We took a pic with the castle and headed to frontier land where Chewbacca had the longest line I've ever seen at a rundisney event.

We kept moving and used our favorite bathroom (the Pinocchio ones) and continued on and took a picture by the castle before heading to tomorrow land. Darth Vader was there and the line was insane so we selfied with the storm troopers (ewoks eat them!) and kept on. We had a good pace and knew we could Disney PR depending on photos. We took a set of pictures with small world lit up (after being told we couldn't stop which was strange).

Backstage we had another water stop and looped through a lot of the backstage heading to DCA. We ran down Buena Vista St for the first time

In a Disney race and tried to get a pic with Storytellers but were once again told we couldn't stop (media was taking pics). This is the first Disney event I've ever heard of them telling people not to stop for pics.

Heading into Hollywoodland, we took pics with Rebels and then ran through A Bugs Land for the first time.

As we headed to Paradise Pier for a pic and saw Boba Fett was an insane line. I heard they were also telling people they couldn't take pics of selfie without getting in line? Really? That's so weird.

We continued around the pier and took some pics with some more rebels before heading into Carsland and took some gorgeous pics with the sun. As we headed backstage, we had another water stop before heading "off property" to wrap up the race. And backstage we saw the old sets for Mad T party. Not destroyed so hopefully they are coming back!?!? (Freeze the Night is LAME!) Before we knew it, we saw mile 6 and had .2 left and kept going strong to the finish. Yay new Disney 10k PR (1:24!).

MAD T PARTY STUFF!!!
I'm very excited for the Disney PR and we had a great time! Our pics all turned out great (even though my hood is a mess in every single one) and I love the medal. Our running time (I paused the watch every time we stopped) was less than 1:15 which is not shabby at all.

One cool thing, as we got our medals, rundisney media stopped us to take pics of us getting our medals! how cool! maybe we will be in the book next year? and then our pic at the castle made it onto the rundisney facebook group!

We took a ton of pics (and "ran" into Greg from Why I Run Disney and here is his 10k recap) before heading to breakfast at Grand Californian which was uncrowded and awesome.

We went to the room to shower and stretch and relaxed until about 11 where we went to the park and it was crazy crowded. We decided to take it easy with do sit down things: Mickey and the Magical map, snack at Jolly Holiday, great moments with me Lincoln, frozen sing a long and then dinner at Carthay. Carthay was expensive but so nice and relaxing. Such a good call. We headed back to the room got ready and were in bed and asleep by 830.

Overall I loved this 10k, the weather was great (all of the people talking about it being cold-I would have wished for that start temp at dopey). I loved my costume and highly recommend Sparkle Athletic skirts for something cute to wear. I will definitely be back for this race again.

Did you run the star wars 10k-what did you think? Do you enjoy the 10k distance?

Such fun pics! That is a long time in between each corral. I agree I think they should have more corrals with fewer minutes. I always think that bag check Is a hassle so I never do it. But really I never have anything I need right after the races anyways. I usually just carry what I need. Congrats!

I absolutely LOVE runDisney races. Crossing my fingers that I'll be able to successfully register for Wine and Dine.

Wine and dine is my favorite half-I'm planning on doing the 5k and the half!

It surprisingly wasn't crowded but it was nerve wrecking to wait so long between corrals. I usually like to bring a pair of shoes for the walk back to the hotel
