What a crazy night. I've processed a lot of it and am still happy with my decision. However looking at those medals still makes me slightly sad.
It was in the forecast to rain so I was monitoring the weather all day. We continued with our regular day and had dinner and I headed home to get ready. I was ready for bed, all set for the next day and getting into bed at 715. No email from rundisney so I decided to get on Facebook and got the news. ugh cancelled!
My head was spinning and my dad happened to call so I chatted with him as I got redressed because I wasn't going to sleep now! I called Devin to let him know and said I would see him soon. I got coffee and saw the craziness in the lobby of everyone being upset. I headed to Hollywood studios and saw the Star Wars fireworks-boo! I met sisters that were supposed to run but had my same idea as DHS had magic hours.
The park wasn't busy, I got my tables in wonderland card and we were able to ride toy story mania and tower of terror-totally worth it!
As we got home, it started raining and thundering and continued through the morning. We slept in until 9am and slowly got ready as the rain calmed down. Heading to Epcot we saw a ton of people that were out running. I didn't regret my decision not to run. Had a great time in Epcot even though it rained-living with the land, Dvc lounge, meeting Anna and Elsa and walking through world showcase. We walked over to Disney Studios and saw even more runners-I loved it!
We rode a few things, had dinner and headed back to relax and get ready. The temp was steadily dropping and we knew it would be cold. We tested our layers at the hotel and went to sleep.
Overall I'm happy I did not run. It would have cut into my time with friends and would have really wrecked my recovery for the marathon. Also the weather wasn't in a position where I felt safe until around 9/930.
However I understand, if it was my first half, first Dopey or first goofy, I would have been out there running. But it wasn't and im signed up for Dopey next year and am excited to tackle that challenge again!
