A great pace run
As I have said before, my boyfriend is running his first half marathon with me during Avengers. Even though the training plan doesn't start until July, he wants to work on finding an interval now and increasing his fitness level before then since the summers in Pasadena are HOT HOT HOT!
He tried to start running at my regular interval and it was a lot so we tried a few others and he would always start out too fast and stop by the end.
I convinced him a few weeks ago to run with me at a 2 min run/30 sec walk and we both did really well! I got him to slow down in the beginning and I pushed the pace a bit towards the end (I told him this and he thought I was lying. Haha but I did!) and finished the rosé bowl loop (a 5k) in 36:29 which is a great starting pace. Even better we had negative splits the whole way and both felt like we could have pushed a bit harder (11:40 down to 10:53).
And if you look at the graph (I'm not sure why it says 2.4 when we ran 3.1 but whatever) you can see we stayed very steady which is great!
Now if I can only get him out of the mindset that that our speed isn't "bad" or "slow" because it's not under 30 minutes then that will be a real victory!
How were your runs this week?
