So crazy it has been so long but that makes sense why I was so nervous!
I decided that I needed to invest in a water belt for training runs. That way I don't have to worry about drinking, I would have it with me. I bought a Nathan 5k belt that has 2 10 ounce water bottles with straps that will hold on the lid. I filled one with water and one with powerade. It was 16.99 at tj Maxx-great deal!! I highly recommend it. It has an adjustmentable strap and it did not move at all. I will have to work with it a bit more because I was slow taking out and putting it back.
I ran with Mari from her apartment to the Rose Bowl and back. The course we took was hilly but it allowed us to slow down and chat which I LOVED! I haven't run with someone for a long run in over a year. It does make such a difference: 9 miles flew by! We went at a slow run pace (between 11-12 minute miles) which is such a good pace for a long run especially with if being so hilly. ecovery was so much better than it has been lately.
The one thing that did not work was my new fuel. I have used vega products and love their pre-workout and post-workout drinks. I bought their fuel to try and I took my sip of it and tossed it. I hated it. I didn't realize it was made with dates and I have come to realize I don't like dates at all. It was grainy and gross. Not for me. I am willing to try new fuels always but this one is a no go for me.
Overall, I feel I am doing well this summer and adjusting to the heat as best as I can. I have a race this weekend and then another long run (which I may go do at the beach to shake it up a bit) and then only anew more long runs until Dumbo. It's going to be here so soon!
