A few days ago, I was trying to pull out a steak and realized my freezer is a hot mess. Stuff everywhere and I haven't been consistent on what I have In there so a lot of it is a surprise and also going unused.
So last night i was good and while cooking and prepping dinner made a list of everything I have so I know and put it on my fridge. I plan on doing that with my cabinet as well later this week.
Looking at all of the stuff I have I realized I need to do another freezer/pantry challenge where the majority of my meals come from stuff I already have. It will save me money and time and energy and also make more space for the future.
This is a great idea for May especially because I'm gojng to Disney World May 22-June 2nd and need to lessen the amount of food I will be buying.
PLANS AND GOALS FOR THIS CHALLENGE
1. Take Inventory
I know how a great list of what is in there and what I can use. I also threw out a lot of random stuff that I know I won't use.
2. Limit my groceries
I love grocery shopping so much! I love the deals and sales and I think its so great! However I can be a bit of an impulsive shopper and can end up with a lot of stuff.
Not to say I won't be buying food. I just don't plan on buying a lot of it. Mostly fresh fruits and veggies when it's a deal and anything that I can stock up on. Everything else will be from the pantry or freezer.
3. Meal plan
I usual meal plan in my head and make 1-3 meals per week and do leftovers the rest of the time (especially when I need to be at work late and eat all my meals there!). I need to get back to meal planning and writing things out so I know what I have and don't have. I even have a calendar for it that usually goes unused. I even plan on starting to blog about my meal plan for the week-hopefully within my grocery store recaps of what I bought.
4. Keep a stock pile
This is where most of my freezer stuff comes from. Stock piling incase I don't have time to shop. I am saving some of the veggies and meats in there for an emergency In the future.
5. Have fun!
Freezer challenges should be fun and I hope this one will be too! It will give me a chance to try out new things and be unique in my eating habits.
Have you ever done a freezer/pantry challenge? Do you want to join me on this one?
