Time for some weekly accountability! I will recapping how I have done on the 4 Well Rules over the last week: Eat Well, Sleep Well, Exercise Well and Be Well New Linkup for Monday! I will linking up with MissSippiPiddlin and HoHo Runs to talk about my week recap! Welcome to the 4 well rules that I try to follow as I go through my week! Let's get to it!

EAT WELL
I definitely indulged and splurged at the Food and Wine festival but was able to do a quick reset with lots of fruits and veggies and was able to carbload successfully for avengers half weekend.
This week since I don't have a real race or long run until Thanksgiving, I will be focusing on drinking lots of water (the cold weather has me a bit off and I'm feeling dehydrated more often), eating a lot of fruits and veggies and going back to my low carb eating ways. I put a roast in the crock pot before heading out.

SLEEP WELL
I've been sleeping around 7 hours a  night but I'm still pretty jet lagged as I keep waking up before 6! I'm hoping to get back on track this week. Last night I got over 8 hours a sleep and before the avengers half, I got 7 hrs and 20 min. That's going to be my new goal for Disney races!

EXERCISE WELL
Last week:

Monday
: Rest day but walking around Epcot and MK-about 9 miles
Tuesday
: rest day but walking around MK and Epcot and airport-7 miles
Wednesday
: 5 min of weights and rest. I was so jet lagged all day!
Thursday
: cadence drill with some race paces thrown in- about 2.6 miles
Friday
: rest day but added in some yoga
Saturday
: Avengers 10k
Sunday: Avengers Half

This week:
Monday: rest day
Tuesday
: run with acceleration drills and cadence drills about 2.7 miles
Wednesday
: trying the Running Strength video
Thursday
: 3 mile run with cadence and acceleration drills
Friday
: yoga
Saturday
: Blacklight Run
Sunday
: Rest day but walking around Disneyland

BE WELL
Getting back in the routine has been a bit more challenging than I would have liked. But now that s majority of my races are done, I feel good!
My goals for this week are to start working on my final papers due (one I already outlined before I left, so crazy I got that done!) and one is a group project. The more I can break off this weekend, the better. Also I need to put up our Christmas decorations-I miss having my tree up!

I will linking up with MissSippiPiddlin and HoHo Runs to talk about my week recap! Welcome to the 4 well rules that I try to follow as I go through my week! Let's get to it !

EAT WELL
I feel much better! I have dropped most of the bloat I gain around marathons and am feeling great! I am cooking most of my meals and weaning off the carbs just to ramp them back up starting mid next week. I can't believe NYCM is so soon!

SLEEP WELL
I've been sleeping much better and am making it a goal to sleep 7.5 hours each night in prep for NYC. It should help me get over the red eye quicker!

EXERCISE WELL
Last week:
  • Monday: Rest day
  • Tuesday: 2.5 miles of cadence and acceleration drills
  • Wednesday: core and weights
  • Thursday: 2.5 miles of cadence and acceleration drills
  • Friday: core work
  • Saturday: 5 mile run
  • Sunday: rest day plus walking around Disneyland
This week:
  • Monday: rest day
  • Tuesday: run with acceleration drills and cadence drills about 2.7 miles
  • Wednesday: core work + Cize
  • Thursday: 3 mile run with cadence and acceleration drills
  • Friday: core work + weights
  • Saturday: 5 mile run
  • Sunday: Rest day
BE WELL
I have been doing well since the car accident minus not having a car! I have been focusing a lot on schoolwork with a midterm due and another paper. I went to a fan Halloween party hosted by my cousin on Sunday and then we all went to Disneyland.
This week I need to wrap up my papers and also start packing! I may make time to go see a movie. And speaking of movies, I bought our tickets for Star Wars: force awakens!

EAT WELL
I did fine this week. I bought a lot of food to stock up on so I should be good for the next few weeks. Since I am moving on Saturday, the goal is to eat as much of my food as I can. I want to try and save as much as possible by not eating out.

SLEEP WELL
I wish I could have gotten close to 8 hours but that did not happen! I went out late 2x this week which didn't help and it was hot and I have been packing.

This week I have to sleep on the couch(I got rid of my bed yesterday) so hopefully I can sleep better with a fan and A/C on!

EXERCISE WELL
Last week:
Monday: Piyo Upper Body
Tuesday: rest day-my legs were so sore and heavy
Wednesday: 2 mile run
Thursday: 3 mile run
Friday: rest day because I was at a mindfulness conference-we did yoga though!
Saturday: 11 mile run
Sunday: rest day/packing day

This week: my workouts will be brief all week but I still want to make sure I get them all in. With packing and moving, I will definitely be active but I want to make sure I can have a successful move without being tired or sore
Monday: 20 min weight routine
Tuesday: 3 mile run and TINK sign up!
Wednesday: yoga
Thursday: 3 mile run
Friday: rest day because its final packing day!
Saturday: rest day because it's moving day!
Sunday: 4 mile run and more unpacking

BE WELL
This week was busy but a good one.
  •  I turned in my big presentation for my class so I feel much less stressed. Only two more weeks and then a bit of a break.
  • My conferences were both great-one of leadership and one on mindfulness
  • Moving has been the center of everything. I updated a lot of stuff but I need to Make a list of places to update my address.
  • I got boxes and started packing and it's not near as bad as I thought it would be. My goal for the rest of the week is to slowly back everything else and come up with a plan of attack. By dividing it up, I hope that it makes it more manageable.
  • Yesterday was my boyfriend's bday! We celebrated by packing and also going out for a nice dinner.
  • The special Olympics are happening at USC this week and even though it's a great event (I can't wait to go walk around today and see everything) they have been a bit MIA to staff on how it will effect operations (example-not letting us know there is a stage outside of our office that will have live music and groups from 9am-9pm every day) but today has not been too crowded. A bit noisy but okay. the atmosphere is terrific though!

EAT WELL
I'm back on the healthy eating train-proteins, healthy fats, fruits and veggies and bought a ton of groceries so we ate in almost every meal which has been great. A ton of fruit was on sale so we've been snacking on front.

This week I want to try not to eat out at all! We gotta get through all of this food we bought!

SLEEP WELL
I'm finally recovered sleep wise from my traveling and the heat has finally calmed down so I'm sleeping much better! I've been averaging 7.5 a night which is good but I can do better!

My goal is to get to bed around 10 every night but it doesn't always work out that way.

EXERCISE WELL
Last week! I got in most of my workouts minus the unexpected rest day on Sunday
Monday: rest day
Tuesday: 3 mile run
Wednesday: weight training
Thursday: 2.2 miles
Friday: rest day
Saturday: Rosemead 5k (28:25) and walking around Disneyland
Sunday: 30 min walk

This week!
Monday: 20 min ballet (it had core work and a bit of Pilates)
Tuesday: 3 mile run for the BOG Podcast double 5k
Wednesday: Piyo Upper Body
Thursday: 3 mile run for the BOG podcast double 5k
Friday: Weights
Saturday: 2 mile run
Sunday: 9 mile run

BE WELL
  • Started my second class and I love it but it goes until 10:15!! 5 more weeks and I need to try and get ahead on my schoolwork this week.
  • Running has been better and I think it's because of the increase core work and finally the heat calming down a bit
  • The Rosemead 5k went well! It was about 70 and 75% humidity when we started and I was sweating. I will write more about it but I was 17 seconds off my PR and that was mainly my fault because I messed up :/
  • Disneyland for the 4th was incredible and look for a post on it later today!
  • I enjoyed my 3-day weekend but spent most of Friday tired/hungover from partying way too hard for my friends bday the day before.
  • I got to watch Independence Day and got a lot of work done as well!
  • I stated watching Seinfeld from the beginning and I am OBSESSED! I watched reruns when I was younger and it really is such a unique show. Also, the references are dated so it's hilarious (renting movies, answering machines, etc).
  • I watched the U.S. womens World Cup team kick some major butt on Japan! Carli Lloyd was SO HARDCORE! no fear and just going for it. Amazing!

This week I have to get a lot of schoolwork done as well as seeing Jurassic World! I can't believe I am lagging on this so bad!

How was your week? What did you do to celebrate the 4th?

Healthy Traveling: Catalina Island

Sorry this has taken me so long to write up! My boyfriend and I went to Catalina Island to celebrate Valentine's Day. We decided to go the Sunday and Monday after Valentine's Day because it was much cheaper.

We took the Catalina Express. It is a boat and really the only way to get over to the island. It runs from San Pedro and Long Beach and goes to Avalon (the main town) and Two Harbors. They run many times a day.
We took an early boat and hit cloud cover and no one could tell how much longer until we got there. It was about 90 minutes to get there and the island was just gorgeous.

Picture
On the boat over
We went to check in to our fabulous hotel and grab a quick brunch. We ordered and got our food in less than 10 minutes. We were in and out so fast: 30 minutes from start to finish.

We decided to play mini golf (I lost horribly) but each of the holes were themed to the island which was fun to learn the history.
Picture
We then took a walk around the town and went over to take a tour of the Casino and Island Museum which was so awesome. They talked about the relationship to Hollywood and how all of the classic movie star loved to come to the island to party hard away from the mainland. We walked around some more, grab a happy hour drink and went back to the hotel to relax. Ralph napped while I went to a massage which was heavenly (I had Princess the next weekend and needed a massage!). After we decided to cancel our dinner reservation to order Chinese food to eat in the room and go to bed early.

Picture
In the casino

Well we ordered Chinese food and they totally messed up our order (we actually got more food) but didn't deal with it as we didn't want to walk back over there. We watched the all star game and then passed out.

Picture
Sunrise in Catalina from our room

We got up early to see the sunrise and did a run along the water which was great! We went back to shower and grab brunch(pizza-yay gluten free) before heading to catch our boat back. One hilarious story: our hotel has breakfast and we went on the balcony to eat it. A seagull came and almost attacked us and I GOT LEFT OUTSIDE! Ralph ran inside and left me out there! He flew away but came back and chilled on our balcony for 15 minutes so I had to get a picture of him staring at us through the window. Maybe he thought my hair was a nest!?!?

The boat was much clearer going back but I spent most of my time inside (it was cold outside) finishing my audiobook.

Picture
The seagull that tried to steal our food

We loved our stay on Catalina. The town is adorable, we had great food and a relaxing time. However, it is very expensive. The boat ride itself is 75 dollars each (and this was off season), hotel rooms to see the harbor are at least 200 a night and all of the extras do add up. I would recommend it to anyone but would suggest going in off season. I can't imagine how crowded it would be in the summer. One thing of note: if it is your birthday, you can take the boat for free!

Have you ever been to Catalina?

EAT WELL
I'm back on the healthy eating train-proteins, healthy fats, fruits and veggies. I cut back on coffee (but tried the preorder at Starbucks and it was awesome!!). I definitely splurged this weekend-sugary drinks at mad T party, macarons and popcorn but it was so fun!

SLEEP WELL
I'm finally recovered sleep wise from my traveling but the heat has been NO JOKE! I've been tossing and turning and I'm so over the 90 degrees during the day.

My goal is to get to bed around 10 every night-it helps with all of the sleep time I lose from the tossing and turning

EXERCISE WELL
Monday: rest day because of traveling
Tuesday: 3 miles
Wednesday: 20 min yoga/stretching
Thursday: 3 miles
Friday: rest day because I walked around a construction site
Saturday: 30 weight routine + walking around Disneyland
Sunday: 7 hot and very humid miles

Monday: rest day because my hamstrings are so sore
Tuesday: 3 mile run
Wednesday: Piyo Upper Body
Thursday: 3 mile run
Friday: Piyo
Saturday: Rosemead 5k +Disneyland
Sunday: Weight training
I need to get back on it with core work and more.

BE WELL
One summer class done and one to go! I've been doing a lot of work to prep this class so I can try to get work done early so I can actually be able to relax a bit.

I got back on the healthy living train and feel so much better than I have in awhile. The runs are tough with the early humidity and heat but I know they'll make me a stronger runner in the long run.

How was your week?

EAT WELL
Overall after vacation, I got back on track pretty quickly. I was off Wednesday from work and was able to go grocery shopping to grab food to have for the rest of the week. I did pretty well in Texas and don’t feel near as bloated as I was earlier.

This week I still have a lot of food so I wont need to shop which is great! I plan on making a large crockpot meal to get me through the week so I don’t have to cook. I want my nutrition to be onpoint until my 5k race on July 4th.

SLEEP WELL
I feel like I finally caught up on sleep and then I could not sleep before my flight today and only slept 2.5 hours!! Eek! I need to make it through work and then I will most likely crash hard after dinner around 8 or so.

This week my goal is to sleep as much as possible as I wrap up my final projects for class.

EXERCISE WELL
LAST WEEK
Monday: Rest Day
Tuesday: Rest Day
Wednesday: 3 miles
Thursday: 2 miles tempo run
Friday: core work
Saturday: 20 min hill workout on treadmill and abs
Sunday: 40 min treadmill and glutes

THIS WEEK
Monday: Rest Day + core work
Tuesday: 3 miles
Wednesday: weights
Thursday: 3 miles
Friday: Piyo
Saturday: 6 miles with 2-3 miles at 5k pace
Sunday: yoga

BE WELL
Going home was just what I needed! I miss Texas so much and it was so good to see extended family that I have not seen in years. It’s a bit crazy with facebook I feel like I see them more often and stay caught up but it was nice to have a good reason to come together, my cousin’s wedding! She is the first of the 2nd cousins to get married which is exciting!

This week I get to wrap up my first summer class (!!!) and start prepping for my second class that starts next week. I am excited to be back in town for the first time in 3 weekends. And let’s be real, there will most likely be a Disneyland trip because it’s been too long!

How was your week? What was your favorite thing that happened?

EAT WELL
Can't believe I will be in Walt Disney world and universal by the end of the week!

This week I was very good with food-I pretty much ate at home for lunch and dinner all week. I'm trying to use up my food before I leave on vacation.

This week I will be eating mostly at home as well but once my food is up, I will need to switch to buying food but that's okay.

SLEEP WELL
After my crazy weekend of lack of sleep, I was much more successful with sleep (on weds I slept 11 hours!). I kept it up through the weekend and finally feel well rested going into vacation.

Since we are taking a red eye Thursday my goal is to get in bed by 10 so I can get good sleep leading up to the red eye.

EXERCISE WELL
Monday: rest day/ Disneyland day
Tuesday: weight training
Wednesday: 3 miles
Thursday: rest day-I needed sleep
Friday: 2.2 miles
Saturday: Piyo upper body + walking around Disneyland
Sunday: 5.5 miles with 3 hill repeats

This week:
Monday: weights +core
Tuesday: 3 miles
Wednesday: Piyo Strength Intervals
Thursday: 3 miles + core work
Friday: universal studios +core work
Saturday: universal/Wdw +core work
Sunday: Piyo upper body and Wdw

BE WELL
This week was a busy one at work! We are getting new floors while I'm on vacation and I needed to help and start cleaning and packing the rest of the office. Also we found out the office next to us is moving as well so we are helping them too.
Saturday I finished 2 papers I have due (one regular paper and one makeup assignment) while I am on vacation so I just need to edit them and start work on my final paper for this class. Summer classes aren't so bad! I celebrated by going to Disneyland and saw Mad T Party, Paint the Night parade (x2!) and the fireworks. Here is the post about all of the great offerings at Disneyland for the 60th.

I also need to get my house in order to be gone, pack, and prep all of my schoolwork before I leave (I really want a nice vacation!) so there is stress all around.

But I can't complain: I'm about to go on a 10 day vacation!

How was your week? Taking any summer vacations?

EAT WELL
Oh wow-really went off the rails! After the races, I allowed myself to eat more carbs than usual as it does seem to help my recovery.

Coupled with that, the end of the semester, graduation, graduation parties, I definitely indulged. I felt tired and bloated by yesterday so I decided to do a fast starting at dinner and will clean up my diet this week. Less than 3 weeks until I'm in Florida and I want to be In good shape by then! Without any races on the horizon, I can go pretty low carb which will be nice.

SLEEP WELL
Sleep was great until thurs and then it was horrible! Eek! I only got 5 hours of sleep on thurs (got to bed late and got up at 430), 5.5 on sat (got home very late and had to get up and be on campus by 8) and Saturday (stayed out late and couldn't sleep in).

I'm pretty exhausted and with school starting on Weds, I need to get a lot of sleep. My goal for the week is to be in bed by 10 except weds because I don't get out of class until 1015! This weekend I should be able to catch up on sleep which should be good.

EXERCISE WELL
Monday: rest day
Tuesday: yoga
Wednesday: rest day (had to be at work early unexpectedly)
Thursday: 2 miles
Friday: rest day because of graduation
Saturday: Rest day because of dissertation conference
Sunday: 3 miles

Monday: rest day + light core work
Tuesday: 3 miles
Wednesday: Yoga +light core work
Thursday: 3 miles + core work
Friday: Piyo upper body then Disneyland
Saturday: rest day but a bit more intense core work
Sunday: 6 miles

BE WELL
This was a very hectic week. Graduation week is always busy with events and with the rain on Friday, it was even crazier than usual. To make it more tough, one of my good friends was graduating so I went to her ceremony and party-so much fun!

To make this week even harder, we have been dealing with a sudden passing in my boyfriends family and I've been helping as much as I can with arrangements and ceremonies. That has been very emotionally draining for all involved also contributing to my crazy week.

One positive was the dissertation conference I attended on Saturday. I listened to some of my potential chairs and have narrowed it down nicely. I am hopeful I will get my first choice!!

This week will be great at work-very quiet and I already have my to do list to work on! I start class on weds and can't wait to be with my cohort again (they're seriously all so amazing!).
And on Tues, I get my first root canal-eek but I'm ready for this hole in my mouth to be gone. Hopefully the recovery will go fine.
I will be at Disneyland on Friday to start the celebration of the 60th anniversary! I will be going back for a full day with my boyfriend so we can see the Parade and Fireworks (and since we will probably have to wait to see them, I will most likely bring schoolwork with me to read #nerd)

How was your week? Attend any graduations lately?

Time for some weekly accountability! I will recapping how I have done on the 4 Well Rules over the last week: Eat Well, Sleep Well, Exercise Well and Be Well. I have decided to link up with Tara of Running n Reading as I love linkups. Make sure to check out the other bloggers there too!

EAT WELL
I was pretty gluten free all well and carbloaded well. Eating definitely got complicated on Monday afternoon as one of my fillings cracked while eating popcorn and I had half of my tooth gone. After an emergency appointment with the dentist, they fill it with temporary stuff and I will go back in two weeks for a root canal and crown fitting. Oh what fun :/

SLEEP WELL
My sleep was great up until Thursday night because I needed to get up at 4 to call for dining reservations for wine and dine in November and then 6 for the virtual shoe queue. However the early morning wake up was great because I got 7 hours of sleep both nights before the races! I need to get back to 7+ hours of sleep before races, it really makes such a big difference.
I am hoping to sleep at least 7 hours this week. It's graduation on Friday and I have to be on campus at 5! Eek.

EXERCISE WELL
Monday: rest day
Tuesday: biggest loser weights
Wednesday: 2 miles
Thursday: 2.2 miles
Friday: rest day but walked around expo and park
Saturday: Tinkerbell 10k-new Disney PR of 1:21:53
Sunday: Tinkerbell half-new Disney PR of 2:35:57

Monday: rest day + light core work
Tuesday: 2 easy miles (:30/:30) with core work
Wednesday: Yoga +light core work
Thursday: 3 miles (1:00/:30) + core work
Friday: rest day because of Graduation
Saturday: rest day because of school but small weight workout in the evening of time
Sunday: 3 miles

BE WELL
This was a great week!
Monday: turned in my last paper! Goodbye first year of my Doctoral program
Caught up on tv shows and relaxed for the first time in a long time. I have so much more free time when I'm not doing at least an hour of schoolwork every night. I'm only reading commuting to work to start to try to get ahead on the semester.
Friday-Sunday: Pixie Dust Challenge was beyond my expectations. I did very well and feel pretty great today.

Work will be crazy this week as its Graduation on Friday! I can't believe it's been 4 years since I got my Masters and only 2 years until my Doctoral graduation! One of my good friends is graduating so it'll be fun to celebrate on Friday night. Also-I have my Dissertation Conference all day Saturday meaning I'll listen to presentations and then pick my chair. This process is getting so exciting!

How was your week? How was Mothers Day?
