I love my Magic Bullet!!

I have had my magic bullet about a month and I LOVE IT!!!

I can't believe I lived so long without one! It has made my life so much easier. It is smaller and easier to deal with than my blender and also better quality too.

A few times a week, I use it for my green smoothie. Here is how easy the process is
  • Take magic bullet out
  • Add in ingredients
  • Put in magic bullet
  • Mix it and serve.
  • The whole process is about 2 minutes and it is awesome.

I also use it to make my boyfriends shakes, my bulletproof coffee and even chop blocks of cheese. (Cheese is so much cheaper when you chop it yourself).

Do you have a magic bullet? What else do you use it for?

**I was not paid or sponsored to write this review. I just really love my Magicbullet!**

Denver 2014: Healthy Tips for Work Travel

Hi all!

I'm writing this from Denver! Full recap will come after I'm home (including some great gluten free food reviews!) but I wanted to just give a few hints of how to stay healthy while traveling for work.

PACK FOOD FOR PLANE

I always pack food to eat on the plane so I won't be hungry and won't have to spend a ton of money in the airport.

This time for breakfast I packed a grapefruit, blueberries, kiwi and half a pbj sandwich (I had eggs at home before I left). This food held me over until I got to the hotel and had lunch (which wasn't until 1PM).

PACK FOOD FOR SNACKS

you never know what you'll find and it's better to be safe than sorry.

This trip I packed:

Chia seeds (hoping they have yogurt!)

Apples

Bananas

Clif bars

Fruit leather

This way I'm not tempted to go and spend money on silly things.

RESEARCH THE HOTEL

Does it have a gym? Is it close to a park? Is it walking distance to tourist stuff?

It's important to know what's around so you can get your workouts in whether in a gym or park or walking around. Gotta keep the fitness up!

RESEARCH THE AREA

are there restaurants around? Are they chains? do they have healthy options?

My goal for this trip is to have at least part of a salad for lunch and then splurge a bit on lunch. I also want to limit my gluten, which can be hard to do while traveling, so wish me luck.

What are some tips you have for when you travel?

As you know, I try and follow a Primal way of eating with of course some modifications along the way.

Mark Sisson of Mark's Daily Apple has written many books. One of them is Primal Connection. It discusses how to adapt caveman concepts to modern living.

For today, the book is 99 cents! Which is a great deal. I just bought it and if you are interested, here you go!

Fresh Farm to You box Review

So much in my crisper drawer!
I was so excited I forgot to take a picture of my box!

So fresh farm to you is a company that sends you fresh fruit and vegetables to your door. You schedule how often you would like them. I have them scheduled for once a month.

I picked the box that sends you fresh, local, organic and seasonal produce called Regular Valley.

Last week my first box arrived! Here are the contents:
  • 2 navel oranges
  • 1 purple cabbage
  • 1 haas avocado
  • 3 blood oranges
  • 1 fennel
  • 1 frisée (curly endive)
  • 1 lettuce
  • 7 golden beets
  • 6 carrots
  • 1 green kale
  • 7 radishes
  • 1 box of strawberries

It was all very fresh! I packed the lettuce immediately for my Lunch at work. I took all of the tops of the vegetables and made a green smoothie (and then made it taste a bit weird by adding vanilla protein powder-oops. )

I also took the cabbage, carrots, radishes and some frisée for a fresh slaw salad.

So far I really love the service!

Are you interested in trying this service?

Go to www.freshfarmtoyou.com and enter promo code 6164 for 10 dollars off! Make sure to share my name in the referral box-Juliana Calhoun- and then I will receive a discount too!

Have you ever used a food delivery service before?

****I bought and paid for the farm fresh to you box on my own. I was not paid for this post. All opinions are my own.****

Trying new foods:bok choy

9/11/2013

I was adventurous at the grocery store the other day and decided to buy bok choy! I had never had it before-maybe once or twice at an Asian restaurant-and it was organic and on clearance so I got it. After a quick search on Pinterest I realized that it was easy to make so I could make it with my chicken skewers I bought (which were a hit!)

All cut up and ready to cook!

All the parts to throw away:it's what happens when you pay 1.20 for three bulbs and its organic

Overall my boyfriend and I liked it! Great flavor and compliment to our meal. We will be buying it again!
