How did I prepare today? Doing my final long run of 6 miles! Why 6? Well when I was just training for a half, 4 was my typical weekend. With the LA marathon coming up, 6 is my standard for a non long run weekend. I decided run it at the rosé bowl to see what my time really could be and also give me time to work on my chi running techniques without having to deal with sidewalks and lights stopping me.
Overall, I ran 1:14 not my fastest but faster than the 10k I did in December. However, that would average out to a 2:37 half time-which is reaching one of my running goals for the year-get a sub 2:30. I did a 3:1 to see how I would do. I have been training on a 2 min:40 sec interval and really like and plan to do it for tinkerbell next week.
One thing I have learned with chi running is it take a few miles for me to adjust. At the beginning I was averaging 14 min/mile running pace and by the end I was averaging 9:10/mile and feeling good and definitely could have gone even further.
That's definitely something for me to keep in mind for this weekend. Start slow-enter the parks and take pics and have fun-run strong to the finish since there won't be much to see after. Let's hope this plan works.
I also plan on foam rolling twice a day and hand rolling the same. I need to keep a healthy and good diet all week and add one carb serving per meal starting Wednesday. I want to be loose and limber for Sunday.
How was your weekend run?
