Linkup Friday!! Thanks to our amazing hostesses: the DC Trifecta Bloggers (Courtney from Eat Pray Run DC, Mar from Mar on the Run, and Cynthia from You Signed Up For What?!).
This week's topic is FUEL. As I am preparing for a 15 mile run (my last run since the LA marathon in March!) I have been thinking about this all week so let's get to it!
1. English Breakfast Tea
I love coffee but I have always been too worried I would be too jittery or have stomach issues so I drink English Breakfast tea before all of my long runs. Hydration+ caffefine=works wonders!
2. Bob's Hot Cereal
This is new for me as I have only used it once but I want to use it again. Why? it is gluten free, tastes pretty good and it fuels me like crazy! I had a 10 mile run a few weeks ago and barely fueled at during the run (leftover smoothie and 1 Clif shot for the full 10 miles!) so it seems to work better than oatmeal.
3. Fruit Smoothie
They are technically toddler food/baby food. I wrote a whole post about it here for more information but pretty much they are organic and all natural
During long runs, really over 15 miles, I like to eat parts of bananas. I also love to eat 1 before a run and after a run. 27-40 g of carbs per banana :)
5. Clif shots and Shot bloks
I love them!!! Gu's do not work well for me (even the supposed crazy salted caramel) so I usually fuel with shot bloks every 3 miles and then a shot every 3-4 inbetween the bloks.
What do you use for fuel?
