Hi all! Linkup Friday!! Thanks to our amazing hostesses: the DC Trifecta Bloggers (Courtney from Eat Pray Run DC, Mar from Mar on the Run, and Cynthia from You Signed Up For What?!). This week's theme is Holiday traditions.
My family is obsessed with holidays and always has been so we have many traditions. Today I am going to talk about the ones that are closest to my heart!
1. Movies and tv specials
How the Grinch stole christmas (cartoon!), Charlie Brown Christmas,Rudolph, It's a Wonderful Life, Meet Me in St. Louis, prep and landing and more! I own them all (just bought the Grinch this week) and love to watch them throughout Christmas multiple times. Now I just need to buy Home Alone!
2. Writing a note to Santa along with cookies for him (and milk!) and carrots for Rudolph and friends
Now my sister can write so she can write the note this year! We always let Santa know that we have been very good and that the cookies are for him and carrots for Rudolph (don't want him to get confused).
3. Christmas morning
We have a very specific tradition. Wake up around 5am, no one is allowed to go downstairs or peek, We take a picture at the top of the stairs (no brushing teeth, brushing hair, putting in contacts either!!), and then everyone runs down to see presents. This is what my brother and I used to do and what we also started to do with all my little siblings. Now that I am older, all of my presents are shipped to me in December (learned this during college-just send the presents so you dont have to deal with packing things up).
4. Opening presents to Christmas music
Once the Christmas music starts, that is when you know it is time to run downstairs! We often listen to the George Winston December album: one of my favorite albums of all time.
5. Day after Christmas shopping
This is one of the first years I will be at my mom's for actual Christmas so I am excited to go shopping with her after the holiday so we can get all of the good merchandise 50% off. Best kept secret: all of those ziploc containers, bags, aluminum foil, napkins, paper towels, that are holiday themed? Yup, all 50% off too! We all stock up for the year.
6. BONUS: Elf on the Shelf
I love our Sheldon (my little sister named him after Big Bang theory)
I love seeing where he hides around: I even have a whole Pinterest board dedicated to him! Last year the best one we did was Sheldon took selfies and changed the background to everyones phone!
And this year, I got my siblings a hide n hug Olaf that they are loving as well.
What are some of your Christmas/Holiday traditions?
