Happy 4th everyone!! I have decided to participate in the Friday Five Link up with the DC Trifecta Bloggers (Courtney from Eat Pray Run DC, Mar from Mar on the Run, and Cynthia from You Signed Up For What?!) for the first time and I'm so excited!
I'm a history nerd and love all things related to history so the 4th of July is one of my favorite holidays! Since it is a holiday, I want to keep it pretty short and enjoy the day so here we go!
1. I went to school in Philadelphia and love the history of the city.
Since I went to Penn for Undergrad and it was founded by a founding father, I love Ben Franklin and I love everything about the city. I love Independence Hall the most and get chills everytime I am in there-I can never believe I was in the same room that the Declaration of Independence, Articles of Confederation (RIP), and the Constitution were debated and signed in!
2. The day we should celebrate is actually July 2nd!
That's the day the that they decided to become the US. the 4th was when the Declaration was ratified. I love this John Adams quote: "The Second Day of July 1776, will be the most memorable Epocha, in the History of America. I am apt to believe that it will be celebrated, by succeeding Generations, as the great anniversary Festival."
3. I have a tradition of watching two movies on the 4th of July: Independence Day and America Schoolhouse Rock
I love Independence Day! My brother and I are obsessed. I knew I would be busy so I watched it last night and it was awesome per usual.
I also love Schoolhouse Rock too! Since most of it is about the founding of Anerixa, I will watch while I clean up my bedroom later today.
4. Last year I had an epic food celebration with the family in Texas
I actually went home last year and my mom went Pinterest recipe happy and made great food (see below!). My little sister said we have the best mom ever because she makes cool desserts
5. I will be spending the 4th at Disneyland and a fireworks show!
I've never been to DL on the 4th so I'm excited especially because Alice In wonderland is reopening, as well as Space mountain and the guardians of the galaxy preview is starting too! Were also going to add in some Muppets (you know-salute to all nations but mostly America!) and great moments with Mr Lincoln. I'll update the post later today with a few pics :)
So what are your plans for the 4th?
