I'm going as Jennifer, Marty's girlfriend. So I will be wearing a white top, pink bottoms and a blue headband and hat (to represent her vest because it's too hot for that!).
I really would love a new PR. I've been focusing on core workout to add strength and working on finishing fast but I'm not sure that it is a viable option. Mainly because of course crowding but I will always do everything I can to do my best.
The 10k is at 815 (pushed back 15 minutes-ugh) and will be 2 loops around the rose bowl. The 5k will start at 830 and be one loop which will be an issue. If I get caught in the 5k crowd, I could be in big trouble.
My plan right now is to go to package pickup on Friday (open 3-6) right after I head home from celebrating Disneyland's 60th and get my bib and discounted parking pass of 7 bucks. That way I can sleep in and head out from my place around 7:10 and hopefully get down and park by 7:30 and get warmed up (which I plan on doing for at least 10 min) and in the corral to a good location. I'm still debating carrying a water bottle so I don't have to stop for water as I'm assuming the stops will be crowded.
Getting my bib also means I will have an early evening home and can get settled in and asleep by 10 for a 6:30 wake up (basically a typical weekday night).
So now that we have talked about the plan, here are my goals.
A: new PR (sub :58:05)
I know I have it in me but will depend on weather, humidity and crowding. I will try my best!
B: sub 1:00
I really need to do the first loop in as close to 30 minutes as I can. I have run the loop one time in 31:30 so that is still pretty lofty which is why the warm up is key.
C: sub 1:05
Still a decent pace and can account for crazy heat or humidity.
D: finish with a smile!
It may be hot (like it was last time I was at the Rose bowl), crowded or something else but it's a fun theme and I am there to have fun!
How about you-any upcoming race goals?
