Ralph and I got up at 6am to get in a run before he needed to be at work. I woke up tired and worried about the weather but I was actually a bit cold when we started so we decided to go for it! Ralph ran with me and also ran it nonstop.
How did I do it?
The weather helped as it was some of the better running weather I've had in awhile(pray it's the same way tomorrow for my 11 miler!). I also had on my race Skechers and I always record my fastest time in them.
During the run I wanted to stop but never did. I distracted myself with music and thoughts of my princess trip and Vegas trip and I powered through.
The only issue I had was I had 1 light that just changed. Instead of stopping, I just jogged down the street and turned around in just enough time to make the light the next time. It helped because I didn't have to get my crazy finish around my apartment complex to finish 3.1.
Oh and Ralph and I sprinted to the end (I will definitely be feeling that tomorrow!).
My Splits
Are just what I want. I was worried I would slow down but I actually conserved energy in the beginning and was able to negative split
11:06-10:34-10:16.
I love to get that first mile under 11 minutes but we will have to see.
What now?
As the weather cools, I may do a longer run but it seems a bit counter-intuitive as I don't plan on racing anything longer than a 5k without stopping (mainly because at that point I need water and I hate running through water stations) but who knows! Never say never! I would love to try and do this 1 per/month or so and compare my times.
I still have a goal of racing a 5k without intervals and it looks like the Dodger 5k may be the perfect race for that! It's in September so hopefully it'll be cooler.
What running goals have you reached lately?
