So as I'm sitting here waiting for Ralph's furniture to be delivered, I'm just reflecting on how this is a bit different than last week with that was horrible.
He went to sit and sleep and ordered furniture while I was in Florida and it was to be delivered last Friday.
Well initially he was told it could be delivered between 5-7 and then was told between 330-7. Will imagine his surprise when the delivery people called him at 2 and said they would be there in 45! I had to rush over to his place and move everything out of his room asap (he was hoping to be there but couldn't take off work any sooner).
I was nervous I couldn't move it all. Especially the tv and the bed. I kept saying-I CANT. well while rushing to finish it, I realized it wouldn't be that hard. And I just did it all. Then I realized I could do the bed too. Take it apart and move it. And I did!
To make a long story short:
Delivery men show up a 250 PM
tell me the bed frame needs to be broken to make the mattress for (why would someone sell 2 pieces that don't fit together?)
Turns out the warehouse was supposed to remove it but "forgot"
Delivery guys can do it but aren't liable if it doesn't work
They offer to deliver everything else now and the frame later
Go to deliver bed and one guy realizes it is the wrong one
I get on the phone with customer service and give them a piece of my mind! So do the deliver guys and it is decided for them just to leave
An hour later, we got nothing!
Ralph ends up canceling the order completely because no one seems to know when it will be delivered (after I called them out for saying it will be there Saturday. Yeah right!)
DO NOT USE SIT AND SLEEP. Warning done!
We went to dinner and then stopped by Ashley's where I had gotten a great deal on my furniture. Ralph ended up getting a new bedroom set and a great mattress for a great deal! It will be delivered soon!
Luckily he was able to cancel the order (since they screwed up so royally) and he got a better deal at Ashley's for about the same price.
It just seemed like a regular stressful day but I did learn a lot about myself.
What I learned?
Trust your gut! -I knew something was off with the company and I was right. Never again!
A good deal isn't always a good deal-just because with the discount it was a good deal, now means nothing.
Research-I always do my research and this proved me right. I gotta do it!
I'm stronger than I think-I'm a marathoner! I can do whatever I put my mind too. I really can. I need to remember this going forward.
I'm still in shock I moved all of the furniture by myself. Even Ralph wondered how I did it!
Have you ever had a experience turn into a lesson for other things?
