To end a fabulous Thanksgiving break, we went to see the Good Dinosaur in 3D.
The premise of film is what would happen if the great meteor had not hit the earth and dinosaurs lived? Well they would become farmers! The story is about a family with 3 kid Dinos- Libby, Buck and Arlo and them making a mark. Libby and Buck do it with no issues but Arlo struggles. He's a bit clumsy and very afraid of things. Through some sad and crazy circumstances, we get separated from his family and meets Spot, a human that acts like a dog. They begin the journey back to his home and on the way meet some birds, a TRex family and other creatures.
Going into this movie, I was a bit afraid. I had read some negative reviews but I always like to check things out for myself. Overall, I really enjoyed it and even cried three times. It told a great story about the importance of family and also how being afraid or having fear doesn't make you a coward, you need a bit of fear to get you through things. The relationship between Arlo and Spot was adorable.
The most thing was the animation. The scenery was so lifelike especially in 3-D, it was surreal. If the future of Pixar is like that, we are in for some real treats.
Overall, I think there are a few scenes that are a bit intense for the younger (under 3) set but I think kids would enjoy it. I plan on seeing it with my little siblings when I'm home for Christmas.
Anyone else see the Good Dinosaur? Thoughts?
Now for the Granddaddy of them all: Star Wars-Force Awakens!
This movie has been hyped and I was excited but a bit scared. When the reviews started rolling out and it was on the AFI list of the top 10 movies, I knew we would be in for an adventure. We went to see it in IMAX 3d (with reserved seating!) Thursday at 7PM. It really did meet expectations. I am not going to give anything away but the movie did a great job of crafting an amazing story that paid homage to the original cast and also developed the new characters in a way that made you really care for them.
Now for costumes for Star Wars: Light Side. I am leaning towards Rey but her outfit maybe hard to run in but we will see.
Anyone else force awakens this weekend?
