I often get asked about my weekend routine and how I can eat healthy all week long without it taking up too much time.
Well it does take time, However it is important to me so I make time. But overall, it only takes me about an hour to prep most of my food for the week.
Secret 1:you need Tupperware and a lot of it. The more you have, the faster it goes! I have bought more recently and it does make a difference.
First I prep my breakfast for the week: eggs with spices, onions and protein (I'm on a sausage kick now but I was on a bacon kick for awhile). I cook the protein first and then cook the eggs in the leftover grease (yay natural fats to the diet!)I prep usually 6-8 eggs and make a huge scramble that I store. That way I can have eggs every morning without having to cook them.
Second, while the eggs are cooking, I prep 5 yogurts for the week. This way I always have my morning yogurt ready to go.
Third, is coconut oil. I pack a few tablespoons to bring to work and use with coffee. I'm working on adding more fat to my diet and this a great way to do that.
Fourth, I cut and prep fruit (if any). Lately I have been buying pears and apples and oranges and bananas but sometimes I buy fruits that need to be prepped so I do that. I always pack 2 fruit servings a day for work.
Fifth, is my carrots or veggie snack. today I made kale chips, which I burned, and also packed a few things of carrots for a mid afternoon snack.
Sixth, I prep 5 salads. I'm very basic when it comes to greens. I just like plain lettuce as a side to whatever leftovers I'm eating for the week.
Seventh, is my green smoothie. I use whatever leftover fruits I have with milk, a bit of yogurt, splash of orange juice, and a few frozen organic kale leaves. I then package them into small containers to take with me to work to have.
Eighth, I prep any meals for the week. Today I prepped steak for dinner. I also chopped up a cucumber and red pepper for a side dish.
Then I clean the kitchen because it greys might dirty! And then I usually clean my house so it's in good working condition (can you tell I'm a type A personality yet?!)
Overall, it took me less than an hour today from start to finish. I always do it when I get up early on Saturday mornings. It makes me feel accomplished to the start of my weekend
