Another Tuesday, another Tuesday on the Run hosted by our favorites:
April from Run the Great Wide Somewhere, Erika from MCM Mama Runs, and Patty from No-Guilt Life
This weeks ToTR linkup topic is COSTUMES. With Halloween fast approaching and dumbo double date wrapping up, this is a perfect topic for today.
As you know I am a huge fan of costumes during racing. Part of this is because of the races I do often (rundisney races and also the rock n roll LA is Halloween themed)encourage it so I love to do it.
Wearing costumes are awesome because they make the whole process more fun. Pictures rock and it just brings a more festive environment.
I love that on the course people also respond to it. They may not be able to read your name but they can definitely shout out your costume which is a nice energy boost.
Creating a costume does take time and planning but it's really not that bad. The more it's based on running clothes (drifit, wicking fabric) the easier it will be to run in.
Personally I try to keep things basic so I can reuse pieces in the future.
However, I have run races without costumes and even though it is easier, to me it seems less fun!
Because I hated not being in costume for other races, I bought a sparkle skirt for my bday and plan on wearing it at many of my non-costume races as a way for me to feel like I'm in costume without going all out. I can't wait to test it out when I get back next week!
So how about you? Do you like to wear costumes for races?
