Oh summer workout clothes. When I'm layering up for 45 degree weather(yes-it gets that cold in Pasadena on winter mornings) runs in the winter I also say-I can't wait for summer when I don't have to layer! Then summer gets here and I miss my long sleeve shirts and lament having to wake up earlier than usual to get in my miles (this year has been SO humid!).
Above is a glance at my workout drawer. As you can tell, it's about to burst at the seams (and just wait until I add my dumbo shirts to it!). I go through and pick out my 3 workout outfits at once so I'm ready to go for the week.
Below are my outfits for the week. I always pick out a bottom, a top (usually Disney related of course) and a pair of socks. If it's a longer run, I usually bring a hat.
A few tips for picking out clothes:
- Always dress for 15-20 degrees warmer than what the temp is when you start. This will account for your body heating up as well as the increase in temp when you finish
- No pants or long sleeves. Just don't. You will regret it. It is too warm for those. Shorts or capris work best in the summer.
- No cotton! No cotton shirts, shorts or shoes. It isn't a breathable fabric while running. Go for dri fit materials.
- Hat and sunglasses are a must. I always run in sunglasses but a hat I bust out when the sun is bright. It really does make a difference
What do you usually wear in the summer to workout?
